Artist Bio

Mary Huggins

Mary Huggins is an abstract artist from Rome, Georgia, where she resides in her historic riverside home, the Moon River House, with her husband and 3 children. Largely self-taught, she uses her formal education in psychology (Berry College, 2012), as well as her bucolic setting, to inform and nurture her artistic voice. Her work is heavily symbolic and intuitive. She views abstract expression as the bridge that connects emotion and personal story with movement and color.

Creative through various avenues her entire life, including writing, photography, and interior decorating, Mary first started painting as a personal catharsis and to fill her own home with original art. Painting quickly became a passion and obsession. Over the past 5 years, she has experimented with and evolved her methods of abstraction to hone her unique style. You can now find her in her studio on a daily basis creating commissions and seasonal collections. Though the journey to becoming an artist has been a winding and unconventional one, she is grateful and honored everyday to have the ability to tell a story through her art.
